The Global Infectious Disease graduate program training will provide a unique skill set that can be applied to both professional and academic settings. In the public sector, many parts of the federal government, as well as state, and local health departments, need professionals that have studied practical approaches to manage infectious disease prevention and response to disease outbreaks. In the private sector, government contractors, non-government actors, consulting firms and pharmaceutical companies would have openings that match well with the skills gained from the Global Infectious Disease program.
Jobs Opportunities with an Infectious Disease Degree
Graduates of the Global Infectious Disease PhD program have moved on to post-doc positions at Harvard and Johns Hopkins University, while others landed research positions at the National Consortium for the Study of Terrorism and Responses to Terrorism (START) and the Association of Physicians for the Underserved. Others have become epidemiologists at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Center for Global Health and senior advisers at government consulting firm.
Our Master’s of Science in Global Infectious Disease program is newly established, but we expect all of our master’s students to have similar opportunities in the federal, state, local, non-governmental, private sector, and academic job market. So far, our graduates have gone on to secure offers from graduate degree programs in veterinary school and medical school (including an MD/PhD joint degree program), and job offers from major consulting and contracting companies. We offer our students unique career counseling services and numerous opportunities to gain experiences and connections in the field.
